Politics Destroys the Livelihoods of Ukrainians and Small Entrepreneurs

Aleksander is a Ukrainian who has lived in Germany since 2000, has been self-employed for 15 years, and, like many other small entrepreneurs, has been driven into bankruptcy by legal requirements and the actions of large corporations.

At the Monday demonstration on August 4, 2025 in Bad Dürrenberg, the Ukrainian entrepreneur Aleksander spoke, whose livelihood was destroyed by EU rules adopted by Germany.

The following is a transcript of his speech.
The spoken word in the video applies.

My name is Aleksander. I have been self-employed here in the transport sector for 15 years. But last year this government managed to destroy all the small transport entrepreneurs and other small businesses. Already hundreds of thousands, or tens of thousands of people, are going bankrupt.

The legislators introduced that we must apply for a license. But you cannot pass this license, because the Chamber of Commerce makes these exams, and they are not doable. You pay thousands of euros for these training courses lasting four or five days. Then the exam itself costs almost 400 euros – and you achieve nothing. The success rate is like this: of 20 people who take the exam, only one or two pass.

That means: money. Yes, it is all about money.

The law says: someone like me, as a small entrepreneur in the domestic transport sector in Germany, I should actually be allowed to work without a license. But the big clients, they absolutely want the EU license. That means they actually break the law, they make their own laws.

We small entrepreneurs, we are real taxpayers, we employ people. And now I get only rejection from the employment office, rejection from the insolvency advisor. And then only the Jobcenter remains. But the Jobcenter demands that I sell my transporters – which I earned with blood and effort.

And then it goes on: I have to retroactively prepare tax returns for the last three years. Otherwise I get no money. But I have already written several times that this is not possible, otherwise I am oppressed.

The government, together with lobbyists from big corporations, from Blackrock companies, tries to shut down all small entrepreneurs in Germany, to destroy them. They are trying, through this path, to bring Germany into war.

We make a comparison with 1933 in Germany. What happened back then: too many foreign people. I am also a foreigner, but I have lived here since 2000, continuously, always worked. But in 1933 there was high unemployment, many foreigners, and then came from Austria “our acquaintance.” You know what happened. And now they are trying again. First they want to put Merz in, and afterwards comes the next after Merz, because he will be removed anyway, this year or next year.

The goal is: they want to bring Germany, West and East, into civil war.

Something else: in 2017 there was a real conflict. All transport entrepreneurs were informed, there was a strike against foreign companies that had come to Germany. But only 300 entrepreneurs came to Berlin. Nobody else came. People do not stick together. Why? Because everyone gets their money to stay quiet.

But they don’t understand that this is a domino effect. I have been saying for a long time: we must unite all cities, go to Berlin once – that’s how it will work.

People from every federal state must really come to Berlin, do Monday demonstrations. But in such a way that the government is encircled and the politicians are thrown out of the buildings into garbage bins.

The law says: we can defend ourselves to protect our lives. That is clearly written in the law. If we don’t do this, then everyone will end up on the street, because they will take everything away: houses, vehicles, everything.
