12,000 for Peace – and the Media Remain Silent!Speakers, songs, posters – and a clear message: End the war! Yet, we hear nothing about it in the news. At the beginning of the rally on Postplatz, the organizer announced over 6,000 participants. By the end of the demo, Compact reported more than 10,000 participants – other media even reported over 12,000 people. I followed everything from about 1:30 PM to around 5 PM via two livestreams on YouTube – from Reichweite TV and Utopia TV. The masses of people at Postplatz and later during the demo march through the entire city, on foot and in pouring rain, were captured from different angles. The participants represented a broad spectrum, and the central theme – clearly visible in speeches, songs, posters, and flags – was: Peace. About 100 members of Antifa had organized two counter-demonstrations in total: The first group stood by the roadside, shielded by the police, and the second group was in front of the Frauenkirche. However, this second group did not even see the demo march. The large number of participants and the visible spectrum of people from all parts of society who came together for peace probably caused great fear among "those at the top."
Apparently, for this reason, the public broadcasters made no mention of this significant and exemplary event for a possible restart of the German peace movement – let alone a video report about it. It could serve as a model for other cities! All those involved were focused on the topic of peace, calling for an awakening and for real peace demonstrations across Germany. This was demanded by Dieter Hallervorden, Steimle, Todenhöfer, Pastor Fliege, Diether Dehm, Tino Eisbrenner, and all the other speakers and singers. We do not need firewalls in our country. It is important that all people – regardless of political beliefs or religious affiliation – come together and engage for peace. Only corporations and banks profit from wars – the ordinary people have to pay: with their taxes, levies, and their lives. That must end now! We must become not war-ready, but peace-ready! Peace begins with personal contacts and friendships, where art and culture can play an important role – and they already do. This was also discussed by Tino Eisbrenner, who often performs on stages in Russia. The role of the new German government is crucial to prevent a third German offensive against Russia. Unfortunately, at the moment it seems as if German politics has learned nothing from history. It must finally understand that the world has changed since the start of the Ukraine war in 2014 – specifically since the war against the autonomous regions in Donbass: from Western dominance to a multipolar world order. A world is developing in which nations meet each other with respect, acknowledge each other, and work together peacefully for mutual benefit. Pastor Fliege called for a moment of silence for the 27 million people who died in the Soviet Union during World War II. He demanded that Germany build a huge memorial in Berlin – a globally visible symbol of mourning. That would be a first step towards peace. Internationally, the groundwork for mutual respect among nations is being laid – but this path cannot be taken with war. A strong peace movement in Germany can make an important contribution to this.
