Despite Cancellation: Peace Demonstration in Zeitz

A protest rally for peace in Zeitz, followed by a march through the city, was planned for Monday, March 3, 2025.

Since only about a dozen people were present 15 minutes before the start, a member of the organizing team informed the police on site of the cancellation, and they left the Altmarkt in Zeitz. However, by 6:00 p.m., our number had already risen to just over 20. As the public order office, via the police, had recently imposed the condition shortly before each demonstration that we were only allowed to walk on the sidewalks during city marches, it no longer makes a difference whether we register future demonstrations or not.

Based on the right to unregistered demonstrations as enshrined in the Basic Law of this Federal Republic of Germany, we peace activists present yesterday jointly decided to carry out a spontaneous protest march on foot through downtown Zeitz. Since walking on sidewalks does not obstruct road traffic in any way, there is no longer any need to register Monday demonstrations in the future. Spontaneous demonstrations do not require an organizing team or a designated event leader. In doing so, we prevent further humiliation by the responsible public order office.

Create peace without weapons!!!
