Frau Holle: More Than Just Snow and GoldGolden rewards for the diligent, a shower of pitch for the lazy – the fairy tale of Frau Holle is one of the best-known stories from the Brothers Grimm. But Reese and Ërnst show in their latest episode that there’s far more to this tale than its straightforward moral. The two begin their investigation with a surprising question: What actually happened to the third daughter? In early versions of the tale, she still appears, yet in the familiar Grimm version, she’s mysteriously vanished. Reese sheds light on the role this character might have played—and why she was later erased from the narrative. Beyond that, Reese and Ërnst dive into the search for the true identity of Frau Holle. Was she really just a kind old lady shaking snow onto the Earth? Archaeological finds, legends, and ancient customs suggest a different picture: Frau Holle might be a far older figure, deeply rooted in the myths and belief systems of our ancestors. Was she a goddess who influenced life and nature—or a mystical guardian between worlds? Accompanied by humorous discussions and surprising facts, Reese and Ërnst uncover the layered history behind the fairy tale. Get ready for an episode that takes you not only into a snowy storybook forest, but also into the fascinating world of ancient myths and legends. Discover how the well-known story of Frau Holle shines in a whole new light—and find out what the snow, the gold, and the shower of pitch are really all about!
