The party diePartei always has... umm... an intriguing mixThe division in society remains present. That society is divided is still being blamed by some on those who split off because they refused to submit to the usual ways. I made another attempt to patch up the division just a tiny bit. For this, I sent an interview request to Stefan Garthoff. He is a member of the party diePartei. I sporadically follow what Martin Sonneborn reports from the EU Parliament. He is very critical there, but always with a large dose of polemic, irony, and sarcasm. Much of what Sonneborn criticizes, I see similarly or exactly the same. So there are overlaps. My thought was, why not try an interview at the local level with a member of diePartei? That could be funny in a way and might even build bridges. Especially since Stefan Garthoff, together with District Administrator Götz Ulrich (CDU)—whose party member Ursula von der Leyen is repeatedly and sharply criticized by Martin Sonneborn—appears at demonstrations for democracy and against the right-wing. That’s quite an intriguing mix. Stefan Garthoff posted on Facebook on April 9, 2024: As a fresh and dynamic voter group that values equality, we are proud to be balanced. We stand for a community where every voice counts and every perspective matters. Our mission? To promote a colorful city culture that enriches life in Naumburg for everyone. We dream of a livable togetherness where neighborhood and cohesion are paramount. We passionately advocate for our youth because committed youth work is the key to a bright future. Education is our foundation for equal opportunity – we fight for fair educational opportunities for all. And because we believe justice is the heart of a strong community, we are passionately committed to social justice. The election campaign will be intense, it will be inspiring, and we are ready to enjoy every second of it. We look forward to talking with all of you, exchanging ideas, and fighting together for the Naumburg we love. Let’s make history together! On June 9, 2024, it’s about our city, our community, and our future. DieListeNaumburg All things I can fully endorse. I want to emphasize the words: "We look forward to talking with all of you." Stefan Garthoff responded to my request with a short: "Thanks, but no." So no "talking with all of you" after all. Okay, there is also Tina Uhlemann from diePartei. She also declined, because she believes I personally attacked, insulted, and accused some people of untruths. However, she did not specify who exactly. That always makes it difficult because it’s unclear what she means exactly. She did not respond to further inquiries. Surprisingly (or not), these requests had made the rounds, and a certain Christian Pagel (see the Kasper-Frogs) commented on Facebook with obvious glee, asking how I found this rejection. Christian Pagel, who positions himself in the circle of the district administrator, etc., never misses an opportunity to express his contempt for people with different views. He likes to use words like "radiated" or "confused lateral thinkers" and recently also "mental elite athletes." In a post he wrote: "As a society, we have to tolerate complete idiots elsewhere who annoy the residents with honking every Monday because they cannot accept that no one cares about them anyway." So he sees himself as part of a society with the district administrator, Garthoff, Uhlemann, and so on. None of those who work for togetherness, cohesion, and neighborhood apparently have any problem with Pagel’s regular barrage of insults, which clearly aim to divide. Quite an intriguing mix. But back to "rejection." I take such refusals calmly and do not see them as rejections. They do not hurt me. I’m fine. I have been through enough—especially during the pandemic years. Many people, especially because they wore masks so vehemently, unmasked themselves and thus showed their true face. Many of these people will continue to show this true face in the future. Some even feel really good about it. Through such refusal to engage in conversation, those who pretend to want to talk to everyone, who pretend to work for a livable coexistence and who pretend to demonstrate for saving democracy, show that they do not actually mean it. They obviously prefer to join forces with those who are de facto responsible for the conditions in this country. The alliance on a regional level with parties that Martin Sonneborn rightly criticizes again and again, in my opinion. The alliance with members of parties who ultimately uphold what is (more or less) decided in the higher parliaments every day. So exactly the things that in many areas are the opposite of what DieListeNaumburg also wants to achieve. The alliance with those who have not achieved, did not want to achieve, or made unreachable these goals so far. Yes, that is quite an intriguing mix. I keep asking myself why those who have so far not achieved the goals sought by DieListeNaumburg should be the ones to work with to achieve in the future what has not been achieved in many decades.
