Monday Demonstration on 5.1.2026 in ZeitzOn January 5, 2026, a rally for peace, freedom, and justice was planned in Zeitz, followed by a protest march on foot and a car procession through the streets of Zeitz. In the run-up to the event, the Burgenlandkreis District Office imposed arbitrary restrictions on the registered event. Participants were forbidden from holding a protest march on the streets of Zeitz. The justification was that there were too few participants. We were 30 people, and the District Office would only allow street protests with at least 50 participants, and car processions with a minimum of 10 vehicles. Despite the fact that these "restrictions" are arbitrary and contradict the Basic Law, the participants of the Monday demonstration in Zeitz were coerced. It was announced that in case of non-compliance – i.e., using the streets for the protest march – criminal measures would be taken against participants, and the protest would be immediately banned and dispersed by the police. So much for democracy in Germany! After the rally at the Altmarkt in Zeitz, the participants decided to end the protest event for that day. It is evident that, apparently for the umpteenth time, officials of the Naumburg District Office, through arbitrary official actions, prevented the broad public impact of the protests in Zeitz. This fully corresponds to the criminal offense under § 240 of the Criminal Code, but, as with multiple similar actions in 2025, it seems to have been either tolerated or even supported by their superiors. How much longer must arbitrariness by officials, who trample on citizens' rights, be tolerated in our homeland? This must end immediately! Author: AI-Translation - Arnd Eiert | |
