People Who Live in Glass Houses...District Administrator Götz Ulrich expresses concerns about a planned demonstration march. Yet while he warns of intimidation, one should remember the pandemic years when regulations and fines questioned fundamental rights. On March 11, 2024, the district administrator of Burgenlandkreis, Götz Ulrich (CDU), issued a statement during a county council meeting regarding the registered rally by AfD state parliament member Hans-Thomas Tillschneider in his hometown of Bad Bibra. He criticized that the route was deliberately planned to pass by his residence because they wanted to “pay him a nice visit with flags, trumpets, vuvuzelas, whistles, drums, and a megaphone.” Ulrich declared: "We all know who used such instruments of intimidation, repression, and threat, and where that can lead. And I don’t even have to invoke the Nazi era, a look at 2015 in Burgenlandkreis in Tröglitz, with a planned refugee shelter, is enough. Instead of seeking the best path for our district in the council, you resort to house visits. You should be ashamed to the core for invading my family’s privacy and causing sleepless nights for my 85-year-old mother, my children, and my neighbors. But as a Christian, I firmly believe that you and your accomplices will be held accountable one day. Until then, I tell you: I will stand firm against these Nazi methods and continue to fight with all my might for the free democratic basic order wherever necessary." According to the saying: “Here I stand, I can do no other,” my statement is this: It seems that District Administrator Götz Ulrich has completely suppressed the pandemic years and his role in them. Let us remember the many measures he imposed through regulations: fenced-off playgrounds, curfews, mask mandates, constant testing even in schools (sometimes with illegal tests), 3G, 2G, 2G plus, exclusion, discrimination, and defamation of all those who refused to submit to these measures. Access to shops and restaurants was denied to people without the required "health certificates." Family gatherings, even funerals, were banned or heavily restricted. And let’s not forget the institution-related vaccination mandate that threatened the livelihoods of anyone who couldn’t or wouldn’t provide the demanded proof. We all know what was decreed back then — much of it illegal and many measures utterly useless, yet punishable by fines. This likely caused many, many sleepless nights for almost everyone. From my perspective, horrific parallels to the Nazi era emerged. Back in 1933, it was: "Don’t buy from Jews!" During the pandemic years, it was essentially: "Don’t sell to the unvaccinated!" and "Don’t employ the unvaccinated!" An arbitrarily defined characteristic was used in the Nazi era, as well as during the pandemic years, to justify excluding people, restricting their fundamental rights, threatening their economic existence, and branding them as second-class citizens. So far, the district administrator apparently hasn’t been ashamed of this. Götz Ulrich talks about "instruments of intimidation, repression, and threat." How should fines and possible job losses due to pandemic regulations be viewed in this context? Over 50,000 euros in fines were supposed to flow into the district’s coffers for violations of the regulations (https://www.mz.de/lokal/zeitz/burgenlandkreis-profitiert-von-strafen-3428500). Fines of up to 25,000 euros could have been imposed (https://corona.burgenlandkr...-eindv.pdf). He criticizes the upcoming house visit. During the pandemic, anyone could be visited at home at any time by regulatory authorities and police if there was suspicion that regulations were not being followed at home — thus an intrusion into citizens' privacy. He says: “where such things can lead.” It is now well known that the measures aimed at getting as many people as possible to repeatedly inject experimental substances led to people not only becoming seriously ill but also dying from these substances (see: http://buergerstimme.net/artikel.php?id=65). The district administrator’s regulations led exactly there — to sickness, suffering, and death. Reckoning is still refused; no one takes responsibility. Ashamed to the core...? The rift in society still exists between those who opposed the corona madness and those who remain firmly convinced that (mostly) everything was done right. Or it is claimed that people didn’t know better. The fact that many critics knew better but were defamed and censored continues to be ignored. Or they say people had to obey the laws. The same argument was made after 1945 and again after 1990. That I can write these lines is ultimately due to fortunate circumstances. I was denied treatment in the hospital by doctors. That is a clear case of failure to provide assistance (https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/stgb/__323c.html). There were no consequences for the doctors or hospital. An emergency operation saved my life. And it was precisely the district administrator’s regulations that led there. In many conversations, I learned that it was not fear of the virus that led to the fulfillment of such crimes, but fear of repression (fines — https://corona.burgenland...senfels.html) by the regulatory office on behalf of the district administrator. This fear was prioritized over health, lives, and humanity. Yes, one can criticize that the demonstration route is planned to pass the district administrator’s home. But in my opinion, this brief noise disturbance is nothing compared to what was caused during the pandemic years by the district administrator’s actions. When Götz Ulrich immediately draws parallels to the Nazi era and burning houses over a demonstration march, it gives me the impression that he lacks real self-reflection. Or perhaps he just wants to wield the Nazi card once again to portray himself as a “victim.” If he says he wants to "stand with all his might for the free democratic basic order," then he should have done that first and foremost during the pandemic years. But he didn’t. He joined the ranks of those who suspended the free democratic basic order. And it’s still not over. Attempts like the "Democracy Promotion Act" are unmistakable efforts to abolish the free democratic basic order. Every true democrat should be horrified by such efforts. Sharp criticism is definitely warranted. If Götz Ulrich truly means his statement, it should be proven by actions. For example, he could order the repayment of corona fines as was done in Slovenia (https://www.berliner-zeit...-li.434115). The administration can do that; the legal situation allows it. He could try to take responsibility. He could at least apologize for the many illegal actions of the administration under his authority. Better yet, retroactively repeal all orders and provide compensation. He could at least express regret to those who became ill or lost relatives due to the experimental substances — those whose health and lives were sacrificed knowingly. He could try to build bridges to critics. Then probably no one would think of house visits. Now the usual suspects will surely speak up again and essentially shout: "Who does Thurm think he is?" Well, in a free democratic basic order, Thurm is allowed to say this. Anyone demanding consequences for me because of these lines clearly does not stand for the free democratic basic order. Will Götz Ulrich stand up for me against the usual, often massively insulting attacks? I’m curious! Postscript: The organizer of the aforementioned demonstration has contradicted the district administrator’s portrayal in this video statement.
