From Prison to Future District! - Major Info Event on the Redevelopment of the Former JVA Site in Naumburg on July 16What will happen to the grounds of the former correctional facility in Naumburg? This question has been on the minds of many citizens for months. 
Now things are becoming concrete: On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, the owners and project developers of the former prison invite all interested parties to a large public information event – held directly on site: Salztor 5, 06618 Naumburg, starting at 5:00 PM! “Following a review of the changes that have already taken place on the property, the planned future urban development of the site will be presented and visualized in the form of a physical model.” At the heart of the event lies a real transformation: the old prison walls are to become a new residential and living district. The German Red Cross (DRK) will present a model of the planned new building for assisted living east of the courthouse – complete with concept and vision. The focus will then shift to questions, feedback, and discussion: representatives of the city administration, the DRK, and the developer Krabbes & Krabbes will be available to the public. Anyone wanting to know what exactly is planned for the site – this is your opportunity to get involved, ask questions, and contribute! “At the end of the event, there will also be an opportunity to tour the site in organized groups and speak personally with the key stakeholders.” Public Participation Strongly EncouragedIn parallel with the event, the formal public participation process for Development Plan No. 30 "Urban Redevelopment of the Correctional Facility Site" is running until July 25, 2025. The planning documents can be viewed online at Saxony-Anhalt Participation Portal or in person at the Citizens’ Office of the Naumburg City Administration (Markt 1, entrance via Herrenstraße).Comments or suggestions regarding the plan can be submitted digitally via the portal or by email to stadtplanung@naumburg-stadt.de.
