19th Zeitz Children's Festival – Moritzburg Castle Park transforms into a colorful children's paradise on June 1 starting at 10 AMInternational Children's Day, celebrated every year on June 1, aims to draw attention to children's rights and needs, strengthen them, promote friendships among children, highlight governments' obligation to support UNICEF, and most importantly, put children at the center—at least for one day. ![]() But just pointing this out is, of course, not enough, because Children's Day is a day to celebrate joy, healthy development, and the bright future of children. That’s why the city of Zeitz, together with numerous associations and supporters, is organizing the big children's festival in Moritzburg Castle Park, now taking place for the 19th time. The castle park will become a huge playground where children can enjoy a wide, colorful, and creative variety of activities hosted by clubs, organizations, and dedicated artists starting at 10 AM. While some may act out, read, paint, or sing fairy tales under the "Dream Magic Tree", others can get hands-on with various craft and game activities or enjoy a honey tasting that also provides information about the lives of honeybees at a display hive. Kids can also try out sports such as archery, table tennis, cross-boccia, slacklining, hobby-horsing, and ball throwing. They’ll also be able to learn knotting techniques, get their faces painted, jump on bouncy castles, explore the inside of a fire truck, learn more about the children’s and youth fire brigade, try different games, or even learn simple dances and dance games. Also on board is the interactive circus "Das Harlekino," offering an exciting mix of entertainment, magic, juggling, and acrobatics. In this interactive circus, everyone becomes a circus star: kids learn the basics of circus arts and get to put their new skills into action. Experience the joy of the circus and discover amazing opportunities to participate! A world full of fun and creativity – for both children and adults. For those more fascinated by knights, armor, and tournaments, “Kobold Mike” will be a highlight. Being a knight is one of the greatest dreams, and on this day, kids can dress up, join in tournaments, and take part in small knightly duels. Also present on Children's Day is the wooden toy mobile with various games and equipment that require skill – and, of course, offer loads of entertainment and fun. The musical spotlight also belongs to the children on this day. You’ll be able to experience "Theo's Children's Party" on the park stage, watch performances by the Zeitz Dance Center, cheer on the children's choir from the Ukrainian Center and the kids of the Zeitz Ballet School as they sing and dance, enjoy Djanko Lemon as “Franz the Firecracker,” and take part in the big interactive party when DJ Andy takes the stage. Children will have time until 6 PM to explore all the stations, take part in the activities, and enjoy the many tasty treats—which, of course, are also an important part of the day. A big thank you goes out to the UNICEF team, the Beekeepers Association, the Creative Center, the Historical Zeitz Cookbook Association, the Ukrainian Center, the Archery Department of SG Chemie Zeitz, the Table Tennis Section of SV Medizin Zeitz, KSG "Jodan-Kamae", the DLRG, the Zeitz Shooting Stars, the Zeitz Dance Center e.V., Equitanas Reitsport gGmbH, the Zeitz Fire Department, the Evangelical Daycare Zeitz, the Zeitz Ballet School, and Sparkasse BLK. These organizations and institutions are once again supporting the Zeitz Children’s Festival with a fantastic and varied program that makes hundreds of children’s eyes light up and puts smiles on every face. Admission for children aged 3 to 13 is €1 per person for the big children's festival. Children in this age group may only enter when accompanied by an adult. From the age of 14, admission is €4. For eligible groups such as students and holders of a season ticket, admission is €2.50. Program changes are possible. Dogs are not permitted in the castle park.
