From Rostock to Berlin to Zeitz – Manfred Zoller: A Journey Through Five Decades of Artistic ExchangeFrom October 17 to 21, 2024, the Long Weekend of the Zeitz Libraries took place, offering visitors a special opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of literature and art. Under the motto “Zeitz Has Many Sides,” the libraries of Zeitz presented a diverse program filled with numerous events and exciting discoveries within their collections. A standout highlight of the program was the reading from *Kehrwieder 4 – Artists’ Letters to Rostock, Dresden, Berlin and Bergfelde* by Manfred Zoller, held on October 20, 2024, at the Lebek Center of Moritzburg Castle Museum in Zeitz. Together with his wife Elinor Weise, who also designed the book, Zoller read a selection of his collected artists’ letters. The reading was enriched with anecdotes and additional visual material that brought the stories behind the letters vividly to life. *Kehrwieder 4*, published in 2023 by Mitteldeutscher Verlag, is a collection of artists’ letters spanning over five decades. From 1970 to the present, the book documents the personal correspondence of Manfred Zoller with 57 artists he encountered at various stages of his life. Accompanied by private photographs, unique postcards, and other visual testimonies, *Kehrwieder 4* stands as a living historical document – a collection of joyful, spontaneous, and reflective voices.
Among the featured artists were well-known figures such as Dieter Goltzsche, Christine Perthen, Gerhard Kettner, Ronald Paris, Harald Metzkes, Sabine Curio, Wolfgang Leber, Manfred Butzmann, Joachim John, Hanns Schimansky, Strawalde (Jürgen Böttcher), and Stephan Krawczyk. The reading not only offered a fascinating insight into artistic exchange across several decades, but also a unique opportunity to experience the history and rich network of the artistic community. For those wishing to get a taste of the reading, the video *Kehrwieder 4: Artists’ Letters & Anecdotes* featuring Manfred Zoller and Elinor Weise is the perfect way to do so.
