Zeitz Rebels in Berlin

On Friday, September 13, 2024, the group Rebellion Zeitz held a “bridge lighting” event over the A9 near Droyßig. With banners and lights, they sent a clear message for their causes – peace, democracy, and sovereignty. This marked the beginning of an eventful weekend.

After the bridge lighting, the activists set off for Oranienburg. During their journey, they experienced a special moment when they passed under another bridge lighting by the local group near Dessau-Süd. “That was an amazing feeling,” said one participant, praising the unity and solidarity of the movement.

Arriving in Oranienburg, the participants spent the night in their cars to join the local group the next morning. Promptly at 10 a.m., a large vehicle convoy with 61 vehicles started toward Berlin. The route led through the Oberhavel district, interrupted by three interim rallies, excellently planned and organized by the Oranienburg team.

Around 2 p.m., the convoy reached Berlin, where the demonstrators took part in a main rally on Unter den Linden street. They demonstrated there until 5 p.m. before moving without convoy to Straße des 17. Juni. There, about 20 vehicles held a vigil overnight to give their message even more weight. On Sunday around noon, the participants finally headed back home.

For the Zeitz activists, the weekend was a success. They were enthusiastic about the demonstrations and convoy but had hoped for greater participation from various regions. “Many more people could join and take to the streets together for our goals,” said one Zeitz participant.

Members of the Rebellion Zeitz group emphasized that they carry out their actions primarily with the future of their children and grandchildren in mind. Their aim is not only to denounce current grievances but also to create a better and fairer world for future generations. Their demand for peace, democracy, and sovereignty motivates them, as they believe only fundamental changes can secure a sustainable future.

Besides these concerns, the demonstrators also call for the resignation of the current government and new elections, as they consider the current policies insufficient and harmful to the country and the future of their families. Through their demonstrations and vigils, they want to make it clear that the population must not just watch but actively demand change.
