Demonstration Week in the Burgenlandkreis: Some want peace in principle, others just don’t want to join the Bundeswehr!The past weekend once again showed how quickly the world is set ablaze by the decisions of leaders adored by some – without any regard for the people.

However, since the district administration of the Burgenlandkreis has for years been making intensive efforts to prevent these demonstrators from expressing their desire for peace, freedom, and democracy through meaningless and arbitrary regulatory orders, intimidation, and threats of fines, it remains to be seen what will be decided live on site.

Will the left-wing youth perhaps join the many other peace demonstrations at some point? After all, these groups are also very skeptical of conscription. If today might be a bit tight, Thursday offers good opportunities in many respects. Because then it’s time for “bridge lighting” again. On the one hand, on the bridge (Am Heerweg) at the Rippachtal interchange over the A9 in the direction of Berlin.
But the Wolves of Zeitz will also position themselves above the federal road on the bridge of the Theißen/Grana bypass. These activists for peace, freedom, and justice do this every week in wind and weather from 6 p.m. onward. They do not do this because someone calls on them to do so; they do it because peace, freedom, and justice matter to them. If the youth get on their Simson mopeds (or e-bikes – for the climate), they can take part. They can engage in conversation, try to understand the views of the other peace activists, of course without having to agree on every single point. That is called diversity and tolerance. It is worth considering whether refusing conscription is enough, or whether—despite one or two differences of opinion on other issues—it might make sense to fundamentally demand peace, freedom, and justice for all, regardless of other political agendas.
