Positive Reaction from Russia to the YouTube Video of a Monday Demonstration in ZeitzIn October 2025, the Monday demonstration in Zeitz took place on Monday, the 6th day of the month. A few days later, I published a documentation of it on YouTube and on buergerstimme.net. As always, there are all kinds of reactions, including comments on YouTube. 
At the end of November 2025, a former member of the Soviet Army commented. He had served his military duty in Zeitz from 1965 to 1969 with the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, in the 128th Guards Regiment. He was pleased to discover a large Ferris wheel on the marketplace of our city in the video. It was already standing there because our demonstration took place shortly before the Zeitz Sugar Festival. Nikolai, the man who wrote the comment at the end of November, was 18 years old in 1965, as Soviet soldiers were drafted at age 18 at that time. So he was born in 1947 and is now 78 years old. He described Zeitz as the pearl among German small towns, which I find wonderful, but perhaps he is not aware of how severely our hometown, its industry, and the livelihoods of its residents have been destroyed since reunification. This is also why our population shrank from over 50,000 inhabitants to about 20,000 people, if I only compare the city proper! The industry was dismantled, the factories were mostly sold to “Wessis”—not to say given away—through the Treuhand for 1 Deutschmark per enterprise. Last night, when I read this comment for the first time, I was so moved that I immediately wrote a reply on YouTube. I replied to him as follows: “Thank you very much, dear Nikolai, for your comment! When you served your military time in Zeitz, I, as a teenager, already had several personal encounters with Soviet soldiers from Zeitz. Joint work assignments during the potato harvest at the LPG ‘1. The friendship with the Soviet Union was a matter of the heart for the majority of GDR citizens, whose traces even the greatest Western agitation cannot erase. When I do the math, you are not yet 80 years old, so less than 10 years older than I am. Since 2020 we have regularly taken to the streets for peace, freedom, and self-determination, protesting against the madness spreading in the governments of Germany. We do not want war but peace, and above all we want peace and friendship between Germany and Russia!
