Time Travel with Charm – Reese and Ërnst Guide You Through a Different WeißenfelsWeißenfels, April 19, 2025 – What looks like a scene from a historical play is, in fact, a city tour – but not an ordinary one. When Reese and Ërnst take to the streets, history becomes a show and the Weißenfels market square turns into a stage.  He wears thick reading glasses and a hat that looks like he picked the wrong size. She dazzles in a laced corset, a ruffled skirt with lace trim, and a striking hat crowned with feathers – personally sponsored by Ërnst. One look is enough to see: these two are serious – about style, wit, and an enormous wealth of knowledge. Fourteen participants embarked on this unique kind of city tour on Holy Saturday. Starting at the market square, the tour led down Burgstraße – past centuries-old buildings and packed with small and big secrets alike. Why the town hall has more floors than it seems, where you can spot the moon in broad daylight, and what exactly Haspel, beehive, and house marks are all about – Reese and Ërnst explained it all with a wink and plenty of passion. And yes, even Napoleon was almost there in person. At least in sound – retreating from the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in October 1813. For a moment, it truly felt like he was standing right there on the cobblestones. In just over two hours, there wasn’t just plenty of historical insight, but also lots of court gossip, bite-sized bits of architectural history, and answers to questions you may never have thought to ask – like: Why does Weißenfels actually need so many clocks? Those who joined left not only smarter, but also thoroughly entertained.
