The Bogeyman Called Peace – Some Naumburg Residents Are Not Afraid of ItThey have been present every Monday for many years. And they continue to show up, even though attendance has declined significantly — because politics still does the opposite of what it claims: it does not act in the interest of the people.  The war in Ukraine has not prompted politicians in Germany or the EU to seek peaceful solutions. Instead, rearmament is the goal. Of course, the hundreds of billions will be paid by the citizens — through higher taxes and, in the near future, likely also through rising inflation, which erodes savings. High inflation helps reduce public debt, as it decreases the real value of the borrowed sum. In January, Elmar Theveßen said on *Maybrit Illner*: “The good news is – peace will not break out on the first day (of Trump's presidency) in that region.” But the citizens of Naumburg who gather every Monday at 7 PM at Marienplatz are not afraid of this "bogeyman." What they fear is the escalation of politics into war.  Right now, the militarists and reactionaries have the upper hand in Germany. They want to make us “war-ready,” and the logical consequence of “war-readiness” is war. Political decision-makers and the mainstream garbage media try to convince us that war with a country that has done nothing to us so far is inevitable. Sadly, the 24/7 war propaganda sticks with some, but a majority of citizens still possess common sense. That must be preserved! Entrepreneurs and politicians increasingly believe the green package is too burdensome in light of more urgent economic problems.But tax relief for citizens? Apparently not needed. “Guns instead of butter” now seems to be the motto — and “freeze for peace.” However, German and EU policymakers still seem to have little interest in peace. Which is understandable — how can you justify arms spending if there is no enemy or enemy image? Wasn’t the slogan just a few years ago: “Protect every human life — at any cost” during the pandemic? How many lives have wars saved so far? That’s a rhetorical question. A little “fun fact” on the side: The gas storage levels in Germany are currently below 30%. Fortunately, climate change prevented a gas shortage. Climate change (man-made or not) saved politics from public anger and allowed the warmongering to continue. But again the question arises: Do politicians really believe in man-made climate change — and if so, how do arms production and war contribute to climate goals? Or do conspiracy theories apply here too? The Big Mental KnotFor many who still believe government propaganda, all these contradictions have likely caused a massive knot in their heads. Many protect themselves by simply not thinking about it. And that protects the politicians from too much resistance. Regional politics also keeps its head down. Sure, they complain about empty coffers, making “voluntary services” (like pools, culture, museums, theaters, sports facilities, etc.) barely affordable. But still, they follow orders from the top.
