Why Does No One Stop the IKIG? – Madness Because of the Climate Craze?

The IKIG – Intermunicipal Industrial Area – is supposed to be a milestone for Weißenfels, Lützen, Hohenmölsen, Teuchern, and the Burgenland district. People dream of 6,000 jobs and have no problem with the loss of valuable farmland.

The Weißenfels city council member Jörg Riemer compared the IKIG to the connection of the city of Weißenfels to the railway network in 1846. However, until now, neither a major airport, spaceport, nor wormholes like in Stargate have been part of the discussion. The IKIG is planned to provide areas for the settlement of industry and commerce. Such areas already exist in large numbers in and around Weißenfels and the Burgenland district and are still available.

The IKIG Because of Climate Change

Politics, as every child knows, has decided that CO₂ will kill us all. We supposedly have too much CO₂ in the atmosphere – so these 0.04% CO₂ concentration in the air is somehow too much. Except maybe for the CO₂ added in greenhouses so that tomatoes and other vegetables grow faster.

The proportion of the trace gas CO₂ in the atmosphere:
blue: nitrogen, oxygen, etc. | red: CO₂

The composition of CO₂:
dark green: the good CO₂ | dark red: the bad CO₂ that will kill us all

You apparently have to distinguish between the good and the bad CO₂. Because 97% of the CO₂ in the air is naturally occurring (the good CO₂), and 3% is caused by humans with their lifestyle (the very bad CO₂). And these 3% must, according to politicians and media, be reduced to 0%. Because only these 3% are responsible for rising temperatures in the atmosphere.

There was once a 1.5-degree target declared. It must not get warmer than these 1.5 degrees. However, this limit was exceeded in 2024. And yes, who doesn’t remember the many people who suddenly collapsed on the streets and squares in Germany last year due to the heat? It was damn hot, wasn’t it?

And that is exactly why millions of people are building cities from scratch in countries like Dubai or Saudi Arabia, and many people fly from Europe every year to the climate hell to vacation – always with the certainty of succumbing to heat death at any moment. Or am I mixing something up?

Can the End of the World Still Be Prevented?

If you are a free thinker, you don’t just question why politics acts as it does, but also think about what other solutions there might be.

One idea – yes, I know, it’s totally crazy – would be to plant trees and re-green areas. Because, believe it or not, plants remove CO₂ from the air. More plants, less CO₂ – we’d be saved, right? So why not proclaim the slogan: "Make Sahara green again!" Operate seawater desalination plants with solar power and water newly planted forests with fresh water. How about that? Let plants suck those 3% of CO₂ out of the air and we wouldn’t have to pay CO₂ taxes anymore. Simple but brilliant, right?

Critics will now, of course, shout that this can’t work. Okay, gas and oil pipelines across continents or even through the Baltic Sea, yes, that’s possible – but water pipelines? Never! Well, the Romans managed something like that from the 8th century BC to the 7th century AD with their aqueducts. But, I give the critics that, that was a completely different time with completely different possibilities. Nowadays, something like that is totally unrealistic, right?

The Solution to the Riddle?

Anyone who paid attention in biology class knows that animal organisms have the peculiarity of exhaling CO₂. Humans do it, animals do it, and microorganisms too. And not just a little. So the animal kingdom contributes a large part of the CO₂ in the air. So why not take measures exactly there? I think, therefore I am (not so sure), that this is exactly the approach that the IKIG is meant to follow and why politics insists on pushing this project through.

If nature, animals, and microorganisms lose their habitat by making soils infertile or – even better – by concreting and asphalting large areas, then we can pinch off about 3% of the natural CO₂’s 97%. That way, we have reached the goal, right? Politicians are really clever. You just have to think about it a bit more closely. Or better yet, don’t think too much, because they really have it all figured out, right?

The IKIG Against Climate Change

And that’s exactly where the IKIG comes in. In these fertile farmlands, microorganisms abound. So it only makes sense to seal these soils, build buildings and roads on top, to prevent small multicellular organisms or other creatures from continuing to release CO₂.

Yes, if you adopt this logic, then the IKIG really makes sense, even if no companies would or will settle there.

The only question is why politicians don’t communicate this openly exactly like that. If they spoke plainly, citizens could do much more to save the climate faster and reduce temperatures again. Especially in winter, it is simply unbearable if the thermometer does not show at least minus 10 degrees for many weeks and months. If citizens were better informed about the government’s strategy, for example, allotment garden owners could be dissuaded from this nature craze and neatly concrete over their gardens. Sweeping a concrete surface is much faster than mowing lawns or – God forbid – weeding to grow vegetables.

Teuchern, the Tipping Point

Whether the IKIG gets implemented probably now depends only on the approval of the city council in Teuchern, which is to meet in January. IKIG opponents, nature lovers, and environmental activists will likely protest again against the IKIG. But now, with this new groundbreaking insight that we can only save the climate by taking even more space away from nature, counter-demonstrations should definitely be organized. How about the slogan: "Concrete and Asphalt for Climate Preservation!" Did the climate protesters glue themselves to the streets for a connection with concrete and asphalt... Hmm...? Yes, that would be logical, right?

The Effects of Climate Change Near the Equator

I did some research and looked at the population development in countries on the equator. And lo and behold, there was a massive increase in population in these death zones where the sun shines the most and where human life should actually be impossible. Following the logic above, the reason for survival there can only be that nature has been deprived of space. Or am I wrong?
