Die Bürgerstimme - The Citizen's Voice - Demonstration on 22.01.2022 in Naumburg

The first major demonstration of the Citizen's Voice in Naumburg

We give the Monday walks in the Burgenlandkreis a voice - the loud voice. Thousands of people also take to the streets every Monday and Wednesday in Naumburg, Weißenfels, Zeitz, Freiburg, and Teuchern in the Burgenlandkreis.

Never before has there been such a comprehensive citizens' movement in the Federal Republic [Music] [Applause]. The criticism voiced in much of the politics and media is hollow. It does not address the concerns of the people, but accuses them of undemocratic behavior and, more recently, of threatening the state. It refuses to acknowledge the true motives behind these movements.

I tell you: Acknowledge that many citizens are calling the politicians to order. We will not allow you to sit this out and hope it will die down. That will not happen [Applause].

The crisis is also an opportunity to use the will, the skills, and ideas of many to shape a more humane society. When would one ever have been able to reach so many people who want to contribute to the shaping of our society?

What we have to say, the questions and demands we address to our politicians, we will say today. We will gather the demands, establish a committee, and create a list of demands, which we will read aloud next Saturday at the New White Pond, at the same time and place.

There are people who want to get involved, who want to take action, and that is profoundly democratic. People are expressing concerns here, and politics must take these into account in their decisions. We are citizens, we are not subjects. I am stunned by the way we are treated, by the incitement, the blaming, and the belittling of people, who are labeled as a mindless mass, sometimes as anti-vaxxers, athletes, or more recently as enemies of the state. I am appalled that this treatment is being installed by our government and fueled by the media, and many seem not to notice or be bothered by it.

There is open pressure, coercion, and even extortion being applied to people who reserve the right to have their own opinion and make their own decisions. The rules are a part of that. No disease or threat can justify poisoning our togetherness in this way, instead of finding a way to deal with the diversity of opinions and solutions [Applause].

That is why I refuse to participate in it. We do not want to judge, exclude, or stigmatize anyone. We stand for tolerance, coming together, and jointly shaping life in a community that respects the diversity of people. That is why we are disturbed by the way things are being handled, or rather, the way things are meant to be handled. It is time for us to reconsider how a humane interaction should look. It is time to critically question the narrative so that we do not get incited against other people [Applause].

It is time to give a voice to the thousands of people who go out every Monday to peacefully express their protest. We look forward to your contributions. My name is Mario Ziegler, I come from Weißenfels, and I greet you all, I greet Naumburg, I greet Zeitz, I greet Weißenfels [Applause]. Great, I greet the entire Burgenlandkreis [Music].

This weather will not stop us from gathering here and giving expression to our voices. We are the Citizen's Voice, we still have many forms here that can be filled out, and there are plenty of pens. Beate just read everything that is supposed to take place. I wish us all lots of fun and hope that you all raise your voices [Applause].

Thank you, Mario, for these introductory words. It is important that we gather here today, that we exchange ideas, that we talk to each other, and that we think together about how things should move forward. You all have your reasons for being here, and we want those reasons to be heard [Applause].

You are here because you care, because you are thinking about the future, about your children, your families, your freedoms, your fundamental rights. And it is important that this is heard [Applause].
