Union Leaders Call on Voters NOT to Vote for CDU, SPD, Greens, FDPThey are everywhere: Alongside the colorful campaign posters of the established parties, the posters of the “AFDnee.de” campaign are on display. A supposedly clever information campaign intended to warn potential AfD voters about the alleged consequences of their vote.
“It’s not about those up there, it’s about you!” proclaims the campaign’s central slogan. A wonderful case of self-exposure. Because that is precisely the point: The #AfDNee campaign is not aimed at those responsible for taxes, rents, bureaucracy, energy prices and the demise of businesses – but at the opposition and thus at the citizen who dares to hold the perpetrators accountable. Behind the campaign is the association “Demopuk e.V. – Verein zur Förderung demokratischer Politik und Kultur” based in Frankfurt am Main. Its board includes Philipp Jacks (DGB regional executive and chairman of DGB Frankfurt-Rhein-Main), Michael Erhardt (First Authorized Representative of IG Metall Frankfurt) and Alexander Klein (Managing Director of the ver.di district of Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding region). In other words, trade union leaders from the Frankfurt area, funded by taxpayers’ money and membership dues, who are now running a campaign designed to redirect dissatisfaction with the real-world politics of recent decades. Instead of pointing the finger at the actual culprits, the AfD is turned into a scapegoat. Yet between the lines, the message becomes clear: Whatever you do, don’t vote for the governing parties. Let’s take the posters apart one by one. Are they satire? Then it is permissible, bitter satire directed at reality itself.
“I just wanted someone who would finally bang their fist on the table. Now the rich pay much less in taxes, and I still pay too much.”So the employee is already paying too much. Correct. Who introduced and defended progressive tax burdens, bracket creep, high levies and the machinery of redistribution? CDU/CSU, SPD, Greens and FDP in shifting coalitions. The campaign’s “taxing the rich” rhetoric ignores the fact that under these parties, the burden on the working middle class has continuously increased, while bureaucracy and the subsidy economy have flourished. The message: If you vote for the AfD, you will supposedly get even worse tax policies – so stick with the old perpetrators who have already fleeced you. A classic shield for the established tax raisers and redistributionists.
“I just wanted to do something about overpriced rents. Now I’m still living with my parents.”Yes, rents are high. Why? High construction costs caused by ever-new requirements for renovations and new construction, energy-efficiency regulations, bureaucratic monsters, scarce building land and political obstruction. Who has been responsible for this over years and decades? The same parties. The campaign does not ask who caused the housing shortage, but implies: The AfD would make things even worse. So keep voting for those who have choked off housing construction. The message: Stick with CDU, SPD, Greens and FDP – after all, they have already done such a wonderful job of keeping you living with your parents.
“I just didn’t want my schnitzel taken away from me. Now extreme weather is the new normal.”What is satire allowed to do? Here, the schnitzel becomes a symbol of climate destruction and the weather becomes a moral cudgel. Climate fear is supposed to be planted in people’s minds yet again. The fact that the IPCC has withdrawn the most extreme climate scenario (RCP8.5 or SSP5-8.5) as “implausible” and no longer uses it as a reference scenario because it is no longer compatible with current developments is, of course, omitted. The campaign clings to the alarmist rhetoric that, under the Greens, SPD, CDU and their compliant partners, served as justification for deindustrialization, rising energy costs and restrictions on consumption. Satire? Or simply the continuation of a fear campaign by other means? Are schnitzel eaters causing the end of the world?
“I wanted more freedom of speech. Now there is nothing but fake news.”The woman depicted is right – and the campaign inadvertently confirms it. The governing parties of recent years (and decades) have produced fake news by the dozen, broken election promises, marginalized critical voices, restricted freedom of expression through tightened Network Enforcement Act provisions, “truth” campaigns and institutional pressure, and created an environment in which deviation from the mainstream is treated as a threat. What is satire allowed to do? Here, the campaign exposes itself: It accuses the AfD of doing what the established parties have long been practicing. The message between the lines: Stick with the liars and guardians of disinformation from CDU/CSU, SPD, Greens and FDP – they will tell you which “truth” you are allowed to believe.
“I was afraid of being overwhelmed by immigration. Now my company is closing because there aren’t enough workers.”A textbook example of a revealing falsehood. In Germany, there are more than 3 million registered unemployed people (as of August 2026: around 3.061 million), plus significantly higher underemployment (around 3.67 million) and additional millions who barely appear, or do not appear at all, in the statistics. A nationwide shortage of workers? Only in selected qualifications and regions – and even there often self-inflicted through perverse incentives, qualification mismatches and failures of integration. Companies are shutting down because of energy prices, bureaucracy, regulatory overload and declining competitiveness. Corporate insolvencies have risen sharply under the governing parties of recent years: significant increases in both 2024 and 2025, with around 24,000 corporate insolvencies in 2025 and hundreds of thousands of jobs affected each year. Hundreds of thousands of industrial jobs have been lost since 2019. The campaign turns causality on its head: Instead of holding the policies of CDU/CSU, SPD, Greens and FDP responsible for deindustrialization and the destruction of Germany as a business location, the AfD is portrayed as the culprit. Wonderful. The established parties’ policy of driving companies out of business is supposed to continue – just don’t vote for the AfD.And again and again, the slogan: “IT’S NOT ABOUT THOSE UP THERE, IT’S ABOUT YOU!”Exactly. The campaign is not aimed at those up there – those up there (including their trade-union auxiliaries) finance and run it. It is aimed at citizens who dare to take stock of the past years and decades: high taxes and levies, housing shortages, energy poverty, a narrowing corridor of acceptable opinions, business closures, rising unemployment and underemployment. The message of the posters is crystal clear: Anyone who sees the problems caused by CDU, SPD, Greens and FDP (and their predecessor coalitions) is emphatically not supposed to turn to the opposition. Keep voting for the perpetrators – otherwise you will only hurt yourselves. The Left? Surely you can still vote for them, right? It was only with the help of the Left Party that Friedrich Merz was able to become chancellor on his second attempt. The “firewall” was always a farce – it protects the power cartels, not democracy. Trade union leaders from Frankfurt who seek to redirect workers’ discontent through a campaign like this expose themselves. They are not defending the interests of employees against those responsible for taxes, rents, bureaucracy and the destruction of Germany as a business location. They are protecting the established parties from the consequences of their policies. On the surface, they are trying to send the message: Don’t vote CDU, SPD, Greens and FDP out of office. Stay on the hamster wheel. Those up there will thank you for it – and so will the trade union officials. Yet between the lines, the message is unmistakable – even if it may be unintended: CDU/CSU, SPD, Greens, FDP – do not vote for these parties! Author: AI-Translation - АИИ | |
