STOP THE MADNESS! - Peter Hahne in Weißenfels on August 19, 2026Admission from 5:00 p.m., as planned. The first visitors were already at the “Schöne Aussicht” Hotel in Leißling well before the scheduled time. Every single one gave the impression of being about to experience something special. The anticipation was clearly high, and the first arrivals could hardly wait to secure a good seat—and rightly so, because it turned out that the planned seating was not sufficient and the event had to be expanded into the adjoining room. In short: the hall was packed! The guests were welcomed by Peter Hahne right on time, and the first books were already being signed before the event even began. A woman who called the hotel asked which political party Peter Hahne was speaking for. A volunteer gave the caller the following answer: “This is not a party event, and he is not campaigning for any election. Peter Hahne is talking about the social problems that are currently weighing heavily on many people.” Apparently, this was not the answer the caller had expected. But there was no other answer to give. Back to the event: In his presentation, Peter Hahne addressed a great many issues that also featured in my own memories of the past few decades. Comparisons were drawn, promises made by politicians over the years were brought up and contrasted with pure reality. Personally, I have to admit that I, too, have done some research into one topic or another. All the more calmly, therefore, did I view the comparisons between the election promises of the established parties and the reality we face today.
The CDU poster from 1991 reading “Stop the abuse of asylum!” alone brings a smile to my face. Today, this demand is associated with a different political camp, yet nowadays it is condemned and considered firmly right-wing. Back then, when it came from the CDU, apparently that was perfectly acceptable. A case of double standards? And now the CDU even has its very own superhero with superpowers as Minister-President. Superpowers? Well, Peter Hahne also reported on how ingenious this story is: two election posters featuring Minister-President Schulze (CDU). One shows a woman in a wheelchair. Sven Schulze, behaving as a respectful person, bends down to the woman and shakes her hand. A nice gesture. On the second poster, we see the miracle cure. Sven Schulze is standing next to the same woman, who is obviously able to walk and stand again here. Great job, Sven Schulze. This is how people are deliberately deceived and election promises are made that could end up experiencing the “Scholz effect” after the election. Looking back at the COVID era, and at the findings and revelations that have gradually emerged since then, one can see—if one wishes to—just how much people were used and how those responsible also “take responsibility” when they ought to… In 2021, the then Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Finance, Olaf Scholz (SPD), referred to the 50 million vaccinated people as “guinea pigs” in a remark, whether intentionally or not… Where is the political accountability? Where are the apologies from politicians? Where, where, where…?
There is still so much that one should simply think about for oneself. So much that perhaps one person or another might change or reconsider their point of view. Facts that cannot be denied, because everything can be substantiated. I have never personally experienced a talk where the audience remained fully attentive for more than two hours. The time flew by for me as well, so quickly that I did not even notice how late it had become when Peter Hahne thanked the audience and said goodbye. But even after the event, many guests remained on site, enthusiastically exchanging their thoughts and enjoying ending the evening this way.
