A Visit to the Mite Cheese Museum in Würchwitz near Zeitz

A visit to the Würchwitz Mite Cheese Museum or the Mite Cheese Manufactory showcases a very special way of producing food for tough times, or rather, this highly unique cheese preservation method.

On May 4, 2024, I was invited by Humus, along with our grandson and his girlfriend from Leipzig, to visit the Mite Cheese Museum in Würchwitz.

For the young couple, it was a truly special experience. For the young woman, it was her very first encounter with mite cheese.

Humus made the mite cheese, which has been produced for centuries in thousands of households in our home region between Zeitz and the Altenburger Land, famous worldwide in recent decades following the fall of the Berlin Wall. Now, it is in demand from all continents.

A visit to this fantastic museum, the only one of its kind in the entire world, is absolutely worth it! It has become a major highlight for tourism.

Many thanks for your wonderful hospitality, and see you soon!
